![]() I was the only one in our family who’d previously been to Medieval Times - I went with my parents shortly after this Schaumburg location opened, so it’ s been quite some time since I visited the halls of this castle. They’re fighting with real weapons - you’ll see sparks flying from swords, wooden lances splintering and breaking, and exciting hand-to-hand combat. The crowd really gets into it - strangely, it reminded me a little of going to the WWE! (Hey, it’s a bit similar, isn’t it - people fighting in what’s likely a predetermined outcome, yet it’s a raucous good time!)Īll of the kids had a fantastic time (and so did the adults.!) The battle sequences are great fun and filled with action, and you really realize how skilled the knights are. The entire evening is filled with showmanship - the knights are talented horsemen who perform a variety of challenges and feats to determine who will battle who in the joust. Everything is eaten with your hands, of course! When the arena opens, you’ll be greeted by a wench who explains the menu for the evening. My boys enjoyed talking to the castle’s resident falconer, who gave guests an up-close look at the beautiful bird that would later be flying over their heads during the show. I’d recommend setting a spending-money budget for kids in this area, as children will likely want to buy something.! Most of the souvenirs were reasonably priced - we saw T-shirts and jewelry in the $10-$20 range and play swords for $10.Ī bargain kid-pleaser: Flags to wave at the tournament bearing the colors of your knight are just $2 for a small flag, $5 for a large one. There are many exhibits and shops inside the castle, and it’s worth taking some time to explore the whole area. We arrived with plenty of time to browse the castle interior before dinner began. ![]() Our family was assigned the black-and-white knight (which coincidentally was the one our daughter wanted!) and we all donned our crowns and headed into the castle. When you enter the castle and present your tickets, each member of your party receives a crown bearing the color of the knight you’ll be cheering for.
